(he, him) Being raised by a single mother in the 80s and 90s from the Deep South to a shared Indian reservation in North Western Montana, I witnessed economic inequalities from one end of the country to the other. When I was in my 20’s I started becoming more interested in social issues. I became an activist in 2011 when I participated in Occupy Phoenix, a local spinoff of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Our core group was able to get a proposition passed that allowed Cesar Chavez Plaza to be open 24/7 to the public. I gathered signatures for the Sheriff Joe Arpaio recall election. During the 2016 Primary elections, I served as a Photojournalist with Modern Times Magazine. I covered every single primary rally and protest in Phoenix during that time. At this point, I knew the power of photo evidence and began to not just create images but also document what was happening here in the Valley, which led me to photographing the BLM protests and other events. I was able to submit those photos to the Department of Justice, which led to a massive and controversial investigation into the Phoenix Police Department. I took a leadership role as a canvasser for the AZ Democrats in 2022. Currently I have been working in the nonprofit homeless services sector, specializing in the medically vulnerable population. I want to see a more equitable Phoenix where everyone has access to quality services no matter what their background.
