Nate Rhoton

LFC Board Vice Chair

Nate Rhoton serves as Chief Executive Officer of one•n•ten, an Arizona nonprofit dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ youth and young adults through programs that promote belonging, personal growth, and a path toward a thriving future. He joined the organization in 2015 as Director of Development, later served as Director of Finance & Operations, and became CEO in January 2018.

Nate brings a combination of financial expertise, operational discipline, and community advocacy to his leadership. His work centers on ensuring that young people have access to affirming spaces, caring adults, and opportunities to build independent, fulfilling lives. At one•n•ten, that commitment spans youth development, housing, workforce readiness, and programs that connect young people across Arizona. He believes strong organizations start with people who feel heard, valued, and equipped to succeed.

Before joining one•n•ten, Nate spent fifteen years in corporate management and finance, including twelve years as an operations director and later Chief Financial Officer for a local construction company. While helping manage significant business growth, he expanded corporate community involvement, advocated for LGBTQ+ employee protections, and developed training opportunities that supported employee retention and advancement into higher-paying positions.

An Arizona native, Nate graduated from Flagstaff High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business, graduating magna cum laude in 2000. His longstanding commitment to civic and nonprofit leadership includes service with the Human Rights Campaign’s Arizona steering committee, the Greater Phoenix Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and Equality Arizona, where he served as board co-chair from 2012 to 2015. His broader leadership experience also includes CenterLink, Leading For Change, The Thurston Family Foundation CEO Advisory, and YourPATHS, a new nonprofit focused on survivors of sex trafficking.

Nate was selected as a 2025 Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Fellow, an opportunity to deepen his leadership practice and bring new perspectives to his organization and community. Through the fellowship, he participated in executive education at Columbia University, learning alongside a multinational cohort of leaders. He is also a 2014 Leading For Change Leaders Fellow and a 2015 Flinn-Brown Fellow.

Nate is particularly interested in the intersection of emotional intelligence, organizational resilience, and thoughtful innovation. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and spending time with his husband, Bill, and their dogs, Frida & Molly.
